The Boulder is a professional wrestler who first appears in the Season 2 episode "The Blind Bandit," where he faces off against Toph Beifong (Michaela Jill Murphy) in an underground fighting arena. There's something incredibly funny about hearing legendary wrestler Mick Foley bicker with a 12-year-old girl, who quickly stomps him during their ensuing fight, but perhaps the funniest thing about the character is that he's actually named after Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, according to "Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Animated Series."
"The Boulder" very clearly plays on "the Rock" (which is further emphasized when Toph calls him "the Pebble"), and just like the Rock, the Boulder absurdly refers to himself in the third person while throwing out constant one-liners. Considering the fact that Foley and the Rock have been close friends ever since their time in the WWE (and indeed, used to fight together as members of the infamous Rock 'n' Sock Connection) (via FirstSportz), we have to imagine that Foley had a blast imitating his friend in "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
