On the r/Supernatural subreddit, fans still regularly discuss the merits and failings of the show. One such thread from u/New-Consequence-8820 focused on a positive aspect of Season 6, noting Jared Padalecki's range as an actor.
"I know most hate [S]eason 6," the user offered. "But the way Jared played the split versions of himself was so good." The user even shared side-by-side pictures of Padalecki playing the two variations, one with dead eyes and the other with his natural sense of compassion and morality. After the apocalyptic 5th season saw Sam plummet into hell with Lucifer, he returned from the pits without his soul. This led to a complex plot where Sam was a secret villain for part of the season before receiving an intervention from the best version of Death, played by Julian Richings.
A comment from u/Available_Message129 agreed fervently about how well Padalecki acted out the deception. "He did a good job," they weighed in. "It was obvious something was off when [he] and Dean hugged for the first time after not seeing each other for a year." Another fan offered different Season 6 praise. "Season 6 had some of the most funny episodes in [all of 'Supernatural']," said u/borostepi. While the season is somewhat divisive among franchise devotees, it seems some fans remain ardent defenders of this "Supernatural" arc.
